Dear Chibi-alu, I've always wanted to work moldings, however the process seems easy to mess up and the materials are so expensive. It seems like an art form that's impossible to get into without a large income and an instructor. Do you mind telling me how you began using molds? Best Wishes, Ashley
yes you are right, making molds is a try and error experience and very expensive because of that ( and No I don't had a job when I start with this^^) but it become easier with time. First yes material is expensive but don't save on them because most materials are expensive for reasons. I first try latex molds but they suck. I try plaster too but can't work with that. For me silicone molds are the best solution. But you need to find your own way and what fits you best. Really important is on silicone molds for silicone casting use a good release agent. Silicone sticks to nothing except for you guess right, silicone. My first mold was for my small canine claws. What problems did you have in mold making. Maybe I could help and give you some advice.
